Goonies Sequel 2014: Goonies 2 has been fast tracked. Goonies 2 will be coming from the original director Richard Donner.

The story has already been written by Steven Spielberg, who co-wrote the original.

Josh Brolin told Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon on Thursday that he definitely wants to be involved in the rumored sequel for The Goonies. 

Josh Brolin who can be seen right now in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" told Fallon "Steven came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years," he continued. "You don't do it without him. We've been trying for a long time, then he came up with another storyline and he's right on."

Josh revealed in a Reddit session that "There's always a possibility. Seriously, no teasing. About every five years it comes up. I've never read a script. It seems that recently in the last year, there's been more talk of it than usual from the likes of Corey Feldman and Richard Donner. But that's as far as it's gone for me. I don't know how I feel about a sequel, given that I love the original movie so much."

Gremlins 2 reports went into overdrive when Richard Donner, who directed the original Goonies, said he wants to get Mikey, Brand, Chunk, Data and Mouth back together in a Goonies sequel.

Brolin, who played Brandon "Brand" Walsh in the original movie, told Fallon "Of course I would do it. But every five years, I keep hearing that we're gonna do it. And when, finally, you hear something like Richard Donner, it's on TMZ, so you can't believe it!"

Astin recently told TheBlaze that "Steven Spielberg said to me when I was 13 years old that he wanted to make a sequel to 'The Goonies' and that he couldn't wait to find the right story."

The 1985 Goonies film was written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus and was  one of the top box office hits of that year. Rumors about a Goonies sequel have been circulating since the first movie came out. Goonies introduced young actors Corey Feldman, Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Jeff Cohen and Martha Plimpton to the big screen.

Astin played Mikey and Feldman played Mouth. Astin says Goonies 2 is is being mapped out by Steven Spielberg, who produced and wrote the story for the original. Astin said "When Steven, who ultimately is the decision-maker on this, when he has felt the magic and he and [Goonies director Richard Donner] are in agreement, which I believe will happen, then it'll be a thing."
