New York City Ballet dancer Sara Mearns called one of the healthiest and fittest models in this year’s NYFW “unattractive”. Looks like the New York City Ballet’s principal dancer should have done some research before commenting on how unhealthy Karlie Kloss looked in Jason Wu’s NYFW show on her Instagram.

Sara Mearns posted this picture along with her controversial comment on her Instagram:

New York City Ballet principal dancer wrote, “I won't say where I found this photo but I can't believe how skinny they allow the fashion models to be. It is unattractive & sends the worst message to all young aspiring women. This photo makes me depressed and sad.”

Looks like Sara Mearns, 28, has no idea that Karlie Kloss, 22, is also an ex ballet dancer who takes her exercise routines very, very seriously!

Karlie Kloss, the star of NYFW 2014 Jason Wu’s show, rose to fame in the fashion world for her athletic look and physical flexibility. As Nike spokesperson, she endorses healthy lifestyle and regular exercise. As a model who was an aspiring ballet dancer at one point, Karlie understands the ultimate mind-body balance that is absolutely necessary to do her job right.

“Ballerinas are incredible athletes,” Jason Wu’s model said in an interview with T-Magazine. “Ballet focuses on strength, length and balance — the perfect combination for a workout. I think it’s great that ballet barre is bringing ballet disciplines to the gym.”

She also said that she cannot live without ballet in her exercise routines.

“It’s how I grew up, exercising and moving. Though I’m a Pilates and Soul Cycle regular, dance and ballet will always be a huge part of my exercise routine and life.”

Karlie also revealed that “being strong both physically and mentally” motivates her to stay fit. “I exercise to challenge my body to reach new goals. Movement feeds my mind and gives me energy throughout the day.”

While the Nike model has said nothing but nice things about ballet, Sara Mearns jumped to the negative stereotypes of being a fashion model on her Instagram.
