Chinese Version Of Running Man Heads To Seoul

The Korean variety show Running Man has successfully crossed over to China.

The cast of the Chinese version of the hit show, which is called Run Brother!, caused quite a bit of buzz in Seoul, Korea over the weekend as they were spotted filming an episode, according to the Korean publication Naver.

The members of the Chinese Running Man, which includes Deng Chao, Wang Ba O Chang, Wang Chu Lan, Chun Ga, Lee Chun, Jung Kai, Angela Baby, were filming for the show along with popular Chinese actors Wang Lee Kun, Lin Gung Shin and Uh Ooh Dee, according to the media outlet.

Deng Chao is currently taking on the role of the host of the show, according to the Yahoo Entertainment Malaysia.

The Chinese cast members were seen filming at major tourist locations in Korea, including Myongdong, according to Chinese media. Chinese social media users made sure to promote the shooting of the variety show in Seoul, posting pictures of the cast and the actors.

The Chinese version of Running Man began filming in August and will air for the first time in the country on October 10.

Run Brother! is co-produced by Zhejiang Satellite TV and South Korea's network SBS. The major staff from the original Running Man is reportedly participating in production of the show as well.

The Korean version of Running Man has become one of Korea's top variety programs, gaining immense popularity since airing in July 2010. The cast of the original version consists of a mix of popular comedians and musicians, including Yoo Jae-suk, Gary, Haha, Ji Suk-jin, Kim Jong-kook, Lee Kwang-soo and Song Ji-hyo.

The show has aired 212 episodes thus far and has won multiple awards at major awards ceremonies in Korea.

The lead producer for the show, Cho Hyo Jin, recently praised the cast of Running Man for making the variety show what it is today. Cho singled out MC Yoo Jae suk for his "soft charisma."

"When we plan a new item, he's the one saying 'this is how we're supposed to do it.' Thanks to that, it makes it easier for the audience to follow the show. The way he can point out the focal point or theme of an episode we've planned borders on genius," Cho told the publication Osen, according to Allkpop.
