NFL Hall Of Famer Cris Carter Speaks Out About Domestic Abuse On ESPN [VIDEO]; Comments On Adrian Peterson: 'Take Him Off The Field'

NFL Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter spoke about domestic and child abuse on ESPN on Sunday and sounded off on Adrian Peterson's case.

Former football player and commentator Cris Carter spoke on national television about child abuse as he recalled how his mother disciplined him and his siblings, saying: "You can't beat a kid to make them do what you want them to do."

"My mom did the best job she could do raising seven kids by herself. But there are thousands of things I have learned since that my mom was wrong about some of that stuff she taught me. And I promised my kids I wouldn't teach that mess to them," he continued.

NFL Hall of Fame receiver Carter then shared his thoughts about the decision of his former team, Vikings, to release Peterson after charges were pressed against him, albeit still a bit dismayed at how football players and team managers perceive women and children. "The only thing I'm proud about is the team I played for," he said. "They did the right thing. Take them off the field."

"We're in a climate right now, I don't care what it is," he continued. "Take them off the dang-gone field. Because you know what? As a man, that's the only thing we really respect. We don't respect no women. We don't respect no kinds. The only thing Roger [Goodell] and them can do, take them off the field because they respect that."

In response to the comments NFL Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter gave, some Twitter users shared their delight.

A parody account of retired basketball player and sportscaster Bill Walton tweeted: "Cris Carter summed it up beautifully; how do punish guys who disrespect women & kids? Take away something they respect. #TakeThemOffTheField"

Carter gave his comments about domestic and child abuse after the Minessota Vikings deactivated Peterson in last Sunday's game.

Cris Carter also sounded off on Ray Rice's domestic abuse case and said "I put a mandate on Roger Goodell right now, put that NFL Magic to domestic violence."
