Ray Rice NFL News 2014: NFLPA Issues An Appeal On Ray Rice's Indefinite Suspension; Association Believes Commissioner Roger Goodell Violated Some Rights Of The Running Back

Latest Ray Rice NFL news 2014 reveals that the running back will appeal the indefinite suspension served on him by the league.

In a report by Yahoo! Sports, the NFL Players Association filed an appeal on September 16, 2014 on behalf of Rice. The appeal stated that the association aimed to protect the rights of "all NFL players". The NFLPA did not want to look as if they were tolerating Rice's acts of domestic violence. However, they also believed that Rice, as a union member, had rights that were violated by commissioner Roger Goodell.

The NFLPA stated, "Today, the NFL Players Association formally filed an appeal of the indefinite suspension of Ray Rice by the NFL. This action taken by our union is to protect the due process rights of all NFL players. The NFLPA appeal is based on supporting facts that reveal a lack of a fair and impartial process, including the role of the office of the Commissioner of the NFL. We have asked that a neutral and jointly selected arbitrator hear this case as the Commissioner and his staff will be essential witnesses in the proceeding and thus cannot serve as impartial arbitrators."

In Ray Rice NFL news 2014, it seemed as if Goodell imposed the penalty on Rice to cover up some of his own mistakes. ESPN reported that Rice previously told Goodell about the elevator incident, for which he was given a two-game suspension. When the situation got more intense after the second video, his penalty was increased to indefinite suspension. Goodell already knew about the punch before the video was shown, which means that the NFL made the mistake of punishing an NFL player twice for the same action.

According to CBS Sports, the appeal stated, "Under governing labor law, an employee cannot be punished twice for the same action when all of the relevant facts were available to the employer at the time of the first punishment."

Rice will remain in suspension until the appeal is resolved, according to Ray Rice NFL news 2014.
