Upcoming Nokia Phones 2014: Here's One More Proof Microsoft Is Already Phasing Out Nokia's Branding, What's Next?

For the past few months, it has been rumored that upcoming Nokia phones for 2014, or at least those will arrive during the 'holiday campaign', would not get the Nokia branding anymore.

If it's not named Nokia, then the best option would be Microsoft.

While the rumor has been backed up by alleged leaks of a Microsoft-branded smartphone, we still haven't seen any real proof that the Redmond giant is trying to take away all of Nokia's mobile division branding.

However, in a report by GSM Arena, it appears Microsoft has taken another step in replacing the branding of Nokia.

In the report, Nokia's website in the UK do not load anymore.

Instead, it shows the banner 'We've moved to a new home', and it's under the Microsoft.com domain.

This could just be a simple change of homes for the Nokia brand in UK, but it looks like more will come. And once all of the phone maker's sites have been 'turned over' to Microsoft, the Redmond-based company could begin its campaign of ridding the world its knowledge of the Nokia brand.

Interestingly, rumors claim that Microsoft will keep the Lumia branding, as well as Windows Phone. There are also assumptions that soon enough, the company will shed both the Lumia and Phone and Windows, and just label its smartphone platform - Windows.

For the last four years, Nokia has been working with Microsoft in its exclusive deal to develop Windows Phone powered smartphones. While the platform has been at times seen as immature and still underdeveloped, WP has tremendously improved over the course of two years.

Unfortunately, even the new features and juicy functions of Windows Phone 8.1 may not be enough to lure away fans from the Android and iOS platforms.
