NFL Kicker Rob Bironas Dies: Former Tenessee Titan Set Franchise Record For The Most Game-Winning Field Goals

A few moments after his wife reported him as missing on Saturday, Rob Bironas' death due to a car accident was confirmed by police.

Rob Bironas' death took place in the 800 block of Battery Lane, Nashville, Tenessee.

Bironas' wife reportedly called the police to report about her husband being missing. She told investigators that Bironas said "good night," at around 8pm on Saturday, prompting her to assume that he was going to bed. But when she checked the bedroom, she did not find him there. She tried to call him but could not reach his phone.

According to Deadspin, Bironas was found by police a few moments later in his 2009 GMC Yukon Denali, smashed into trees a mile away from his home. He was still taken to the hospital but was already dead on arrival.

Deatils of Rob Bironas' car crash reportedly came to light when a woman called 911 at the scene of the accident.

According to a report from The Tennessean, Bironas reportedly tried to run over the woman. She pulled over and let him pass. And a few moments after resuming driving, she saw the site of the car crash.

The woman recounted the incident in the 911 call, saying:

"He is dangerous, he is drunk or something. He tried to start a fight with us. My husband ran down there to see what is going on. I just want to tell the police there is something wrong with him ... He gave us a mean look. We don't even know him, and he tried to run us off the road."

"He gave us this freaky look and then he just sped on past us," the woman continued. "We let him go on past us and then we saw all this smoke."

Before the puzzling and sad incident of Rob Bironas' death, the former Tennessee Titan set franchise record for the most game-winning field goals.
