Bae Doona Will Save Humanity In The Wachowskis’ ‘Sense 8’

Korean actress Bae Doona has been cast in The Wachowskis' new series "Sense 8."

The 34-year-old was spotted shooting the upcoming sci-fi series at Chungaechun in Seoul, according to the Korean publication Naver.

Bae will be playing the role of a Korean businesswoman who is connected to eight people around the globe through a shared violent vision, according to the media outlet Collider.

"They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, but they have access to each other's deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them," explained co-creator of the Netflix show J. Michael Straczynski.

Aside from Bae Doona, the lead actors will be Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Aml Ameen, Miguel Silvestri, Tena Desae, Max Riemelt and Jamie Clayton. Other cast members will include Naveen Andrews, Daryl Hannah, Freema Agyeman, Alfonso Herrera, Erendira Ibarra and Terrence Mann, according to Deadline.

Bae Doona had previously worked with The Wachowskis for the film "Cloud Atlas," her first major role in Hollywood. She was also cast as a bounty hunter in their 2015 sci-fi film "Jupiter Ascending."

Despite Bae's break into Hollywood, the "A Girl At My Door" actress revealed that "working in a foreign culture in a foreign country" was a lonely experience for her.

"Being exposed to different production environments in Korea, Japan and the U.S. was a great experience, and each system allows you to quench your thirst in a different way. I'm not partial to any system, but at the same time I'm a Korean actor so I expect to work mainly on Korean projects," Bae Doona told The Hollywood Reporter.
