The 2014 Mazda CX-5 SUV is equipped with a 2L gas Flat-4 engine which is mated to a 6-speed manual and produces 155hp. The FWD produces 155hp with 150 ft-lbs of torque, it is efficient compared to Forester 2.5i because it produces a 32mpg on highways and 22mpg on the city.

On the other hand, the Subaru Forester 2.5i is an all-wheel drive vehicle and offers the same 6-speed manual gearbox. It runs on 2.5L Naturally Aspirated Gas flat-4 which produces 170hp. The Forester 2.5i is far behind the Mazda CX-5. It can only achieve 22mpg on city and 29mpg on the highway.

The 2014 Mazda CX-5 can travel up to 518 miles with a single full tank while the 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i can only travel for 461 miles.

Moreover, the CX-5 features one touch windows, cruise control, powered exterior mirror control, power tilt steering wheel and keyless ignition. While the Subaru Forester 2.5i has a standard CVT with X-Mode. Hill-descent control technology, automatic headlights, fog lights, power rear liftgate, and a rear roof spoiler. On the inside it has limited trim level gains leather seats, an automatic climate control system, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, reclining rear seatback, and a cargo tray.

In terms of price both the 2014 Mazda CX-5 and 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i are priced in the $21,000 range.
