In spite his injuries and other news, Derrick Rose remains one of the most popular players in the NBA today. 

And as training camp kicks of for the Chicago Bulls, the former MVP expressed his confidence in winning a championship. 

"I try my hardest to stay away from (the predictions). But we know we have an opportunity ahead of us. It may not be this year, it may not be the next year or whatever, but I know that we have one (in us). I know I'm going to win a championship soon so I'm not worried about that", Rose said in an interview. 

Indeed, if the Bulls has any chances of winning the NBA title, it would be this year, with all of the pieces complete. Chicago already has its stellar and stiffling defense, and the core of Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler who make up the defense platoon for coach Thibodeau are still there. 

However, for this season, Windy City has added a lot of firepower with the likes of former Laker Pau Gasol, shooting sensation Doug McDermott and former Spanish League MVP and reigning Spanish Cup MVP Nikola Mirotic. 

It is also worth noting that sophomore Tony Snell is a promising source of scoring off the bench with the way he's played in the Summer League in Vegas. There are also a few veterans in the roster which include scoring point guard Aaron Brooks and defensive point ma Kirk Hinrich. 

With all that cast in the Chicago Bulls roster, the only missing link is a healthy and explosive Derrick Rose. He may not have played well during the FIBA World Cup in Spain, but he showed that he can play extended minutes on a consecutive basis once more. 

While Rose mentioned that he isn't worried that they won't win the championsip this year, this is the best time to win the title. Gasol is aging, and so is Noah and other stars in this team. As Rose approaches his prime, he has to cement himself as one of the best in the business in order to lure in other stars in the future. 

And the best way to get that attention is to win the championship.
