YG Entertainment Launches Promotions For New K-Pop Group iKON Following The Success Of Reality TV Survival Band WINNER

K-pop fans have a new boy group to look out for.

Following the success of their new boy group WINNER, one of Korea's top management agencies, YG Entertainment, has launched promotions for their rookie group iKON

The new idol group held their first fan meeting in Japan at Osaka's Dojima River Forum.

The nine members of iKON were able to start promotions so early because they already created a fan base for themselves while performing and competing on the music survival program "MIX & MATCH," according to the Korean media outlet Osen Entertainment. Although iKON has yet to make their official debut, the boys, who were greeted by 2,000 local fans, are making YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk's dreams come true.

"Instead of iCON, I replaced the C with K to represent K-pop. I hope iKON will become a group that represents Korea," stated Yang during a press conference on September 2, according to Allkpop.

Like boy band WINNER, the members of iKON are focusing on showcasing their musical skills before making their debut. The fan meeting started with the boys singing a restructured version of "Just Another Boy."

The new idol members finished off their recent promotional event with a Q&A session as they interacted with their Japanese fans.

iKON will continue their promotions at the Poly Theater in China on October 11. They will hold their last promotional fan meeting event before their debut at the D-Cube Cit D-Cube Park in Korea on October 17.

The new YG boy band consists of members B.I, BOBBY, Kim Jin Hwan, Ku Joonhew, Song Yoonhyung, Jung Jinhyung, Jung Chanwoo, Kim Dong Hyuk and Yang Hongsook. They released the track "Wait" under the name Team B and ranked No. 48 on the Gaon Music Chart in Korea.

The members of iKON are set to have major exposure before their official debut, as they're set to be the opening act for Big Bang's "Japan Dome Tour," which will begin on November 15.

Even though iKON have yet to make their debut in the K-pop world, the members are ready to perform.

"I want to do more. I want to stand on stage more," stated member B.I.

iKON member Jinhwan added, "I want to hurry up and debut as iKON and keep standing on stage."
