5 IU Collaborations Worth Listening To

Solo artist IU's skill set as a talented vocalist has made her a popular singer, but it's also made her desirable for collaborations. She recently made headlines for collaborating with legendary K-Pop artist Seo Taiji, and has had multiple other noteworthy collaborations.

IU & Seo Taiji - "Sokyeokdong"

Although the two don't actually sing together, but both Seo Taiji and IU have their own version of the song, "Sokyeokdong" is a definite collaborative track. The style is a new one for IU, featuring electronic music that she typically hasn't favored in the past, although it is definitely Seo Taiji's forte. The sound of the synthesizer doesn't lessen IU's vocal talent, but adds a new sound that she is experimenting with.

IU & 2AM's Seulong - "Nagging"

Made as a song for the variety show We Got Married, the playful duet depicts the vocal range of both IU and Seulong as they mimc a couple that nags one another, but is still in love. Their powerful and melodic voices blend well together, creating a cute song that makes the most of IU's high notes and ability to portray emotion through her voice.

Bisniz feat. IU - "Suga Luv"

Even though she is only the featured singer on the song, rather than a full-blown collaboration between the two artists, IU's sweet voice stands out on the hip-hop track in contrast to Bisniz's rap. She provides the sugary-sounding chorus, sounding sweet and light-hearted to contrast with the more serious-sounding rap.

IU Feat. History's Jang Yi Jeong- "Friday"

In comparison to the Bisniz song, IU is the main vocalist with Jang Yi Jeong's deeper voice appearing as a contrast to her high vocals. The song's simple jazz beat is sweet and uplifting, with great instrumentals that really make the song. When the two voices come together to create a true duet, Jang Yi Jeong's voice isn't overpowered by IU but features as a deeper background to highlight IU's clear tone.

IU & HIGH4 - "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms"

IU wrote the song, which was HIGH4's debut song, and sings throughout it to provide the boy band with a feminine touch. Even though the members are rookies, HIGH4's rougher vocals interspersed with IU's voice shows the contrast between masculine and feminine voices and comes together to create a sweet, catchy song that is perfect for spring days.
