M.I.B Kangnam Is The Latest Variety Star To Watch

A member of M.I.B is gaining popularity on South Korean variety shows.

Due to his frank personality, M.I.B's singer Kangnam is in demand for some of Korea's up-and-coming variety shows. The idol began appearing on variety shows in 2012, but his well-received recent appearances on I Live Alone and Off To School have led to other variety shows seeking out the idol.

Kangnam, the Japanese-born member of the hip-hop idol group M.I.B, started to gain recognition recently for his frank, friendly persona. The positivity that he showed on MBC's I Live Alone after finding out that he had the equivalent of less than $4 USD in his bank account gained him a lot of fans.

The idol also recently joined JTBC's Off To School, and enjoyed going to Korean school for the first time. Kangnam's imperfect Korean and foreign regard to Korean social etiquette has also led to him endearing himself to the cast and Korean audience.

Kangnam's personality has led to high demand for the entertainer. He was also announced to begin participating in two new variety shows. He will participate in JTBC's new show Inside Story Salon as a probationary MC, and appear on MBC's Hello Stranger.

Inside Story Salon will be focused on how people react to psychological tests in daily situations. He will MC along with Yoon Jong Shin and Shin Hae Chul. This will be the first time that Kangnam takes on an MC role. The show has yet to begin airing.

Hello Stranger, also starring Fujii Mina, Fabian, GOT7's Jackson, and Kim Gwang Kyu, will be about how foreign celebrities view Korean culture. The show debuted as a Chuseok special, and then was confirmed to become a regularly broadcasted show that will begin airing on October 16.

M.I.B will be performing in New York City at the annual Chuseok Festival on October 12.
