'Tomorrowland' Debuted By George Clooney Alongside Co Star Hugh Laurie At New York Comic Con; Movie Is Set To Hit Theaters May 22, 2015 [PHOTO]

George Clooney took some time off of his honeymoon with Amal Alamuddin to debut the movie "Tomorrowland" at Comic Con in New York this past Thursday. According to Polygon, "Tomorrowland" is a Disney film inspired by the futuristic attractions at Disneyland, Disney World, and other Disney theme parks.

CNN reports that Clooney kept the crowd well entertained with one-liners and enthusiasm, and often nodded to his fellow co-star Hugh Laurie ("House"). Clooney started off by stating, "It is not lost on me that I am spending my honeymoon at Comic Con."

He then went on to mention his adventures with Laurie, commenting, "We were all over the world - Hugh and I got to get in trouble in the Bahamas, it was fun. Two former television doctors! Bring that on, McSteamy guy... We'll take 'em all on, them TV doctors," further showcasing his humor.

Jokes aside, the panel at Comic Con began with producer Damon Lindelof, best known as the co-showrunner of "Lost," and director Brad Bird ("The Incredibles"). Polygon reports that the movie project began with a box labeled "1952" found in Disney's Imagineering department. The box contained documents and other materials suggesting Disney had been working on something about space. Lindelof and Bird decided to use the contents of the box as inspiration for "Tomorrowland."

Britt Robertson ("Under the Dome") and Raffey Cassidy ("Snow White and the Huntsman") were also present at the panel, flanking Laurie and Clooney. Robertson will play teenage girl Casey Newton, who touches a Tomorrowland pin and is transported into a new world. Cassidy plays Athena, who is supposed to have recruited Casey to the new world.

As for Clooney, he will play middle-aged inventor Frank Walter. After panel played the trailer for the movie, Clooney joked, "What the hell, that's it? We've been waiting for this thing for a year and a half and that's it? I'm so barely in the teaser! I don't want to have to say, I'm a big star!"

"Tomorrowland" will open in theaters May 22, 2015.
