This past Wednesday, cast members and producers from the show "Justified" discussed its final season at "An Evening With Justified" at the Television Academy. "Justified" is currently in its fifth season, and has been renewed for a sixth and final season.

According to Variety, actor and producer of the show Timothy Olyphant made it very clear how he wanted the show to end. He stated, "It has to come down to Ava and Boyd and Rayland... I would be very curious to how those three points of view, those three storylines can sustain an entire series and allow the other characters to simply support them. I don't mean that to lessen the other characters!"

The show has just slightly outlived its original writer, Elmore Leonard, who died last August at the age of 87. Since then, the cast and the writing staff have been collaborating in order to create a dialogue worthy of Leonard's work.

Producer Fred Goland stated, "We all made studying Elmore a project... And when we veer from the path, we have the cast to keep us honest." Actor Walton Goggins added, "It takes a village to raise Elmore Leonard on a week-to-week basis."

Olyphant commented, "The challenge has always been to move the characters forward. The characters have to drive the story. We're careful about not using too many bright shiny objects," conveying some of the hardships the cast and writers had to go through after Leonard's passing.

He added, "[Leonard's] focus on professionalism was something I grew to appreciate, for the storytelling and in my own work. I think it made me more disciplined," further highlighting the impression Leonard left on him.

As for the end of the season, Olyphant commented, "Whatever happens next, I'm sure will end with some stupid decision on my part... I think in the end Rayland is a lawman... It would be hard for him to be anything else."
