Ed Sheeran Reveals He Used To Be Homeless; Lego House Singer Talks Life Before Making It Big, Career Plans

Ed Sheeran's song "Homeless" apparently was inspired by past experience. The 23-year-old British singer revealed he did not have a place to live in while still trying to make it in the music industry, said the Daily Mail.

Before his latest album "X" topped numerous charts and sold hundreds of thousands of copies, Ed Sheeran was homeless and there was even a time he slep outside the Buckingham Palace.

In an excerpt from his new book called "A Visual Journey,"  Sheeran described his beginnings as a struggling musician in London. "There was an arch outside Buckingham Palace that has a heating duct and I spent a couple of nights there," he said in one portion of the book. "That's where I wrote the song 'Homeless' and the lines 'It's not a homeless night for me, I'm just home less than I'd like to be."

His success is certainly a huge leap from his nights of sleeping on London's Circle Trains. Sheeran, who now has afforded to buy a house in his hometown of Suffolk and a ranch in Nashville, Tennessee, continues to make music and appear to be unstoppable.

In an interview with Billboard, Sheeran shared what can be expected of him music-wise. "I'm writing and recording on the road, preparing for the third album," he said. "If it's done by the end of the tour, it'll come out straight after the tour. But if not, it'll come out in 2016."

He also revealed collaborations with Usher and Skrillex. "There's an Usher [song] coming. I went to Passover seder with him at a Jewish friend's house," he shared. "I sat next to him, and after a lot of red wine, we ended up in the studio that night with Skrillex. Me and Skrillex made a beat, me and Usher wrote the topline, and Usher put a rap on it. It's good."

Ed Sheeran's not homeless anymore and is, in fact, very busy with many music-related commitments but the "Thinking Out Loud" singer reportedly wants to take some time off. "I haven't had any time off since before I signed my record deal and I want some! I'll do what I enjoy and it won't feel like work," the singer told the Sun (quote via Sugarscape).
