HTC Desire 820 Release Date: Poor Man's Desire Eye Announced In India, Poised To Help Improve Sales For Taiwanese Phone Maker

In case you missed the HTC Desire 820 release date last month, it is a gorgeous-looking midranger that boasts impressive specs, a fast processor, and a better camera than the HTC One M8 flagship.

According to a report by Christian Today, the device has just been announced in India and should be available by the end of the month.

The Desire 820 is considered as among the first Android devices to boast a 64-bit supported chipset, the Snapdragon 615 from Qualcomm. The handset is strictly in the phablet category already with its 5.5-inch display, but its HD (1280 x 720) resolution does not hide the fact that it is still a midranger.

In terms of CPU power, the HTC smartphone features an octa-core CPU and 2GB of RAM. The phone comes with 16GB of built-in memory, though people who prefer more storage would be delighted by the microSD card slot that can hold up to 128GB of expanded storage.

While all of the phone's features are certainly impressive, its most notable specs are its cameras. The Desire 820 boasts a 13MP 'regular' camera at the back, which is arguably better than the 4MP UltraPixel camera found in the One M8.

The front cam is also better, getting 8MP of resolution compared to the 5MP shooter of the One M8. The recently announced Desire Eye may pack a 13MP front cam with dual-LED flash, but if you are on a tight budget, the Desire 820's 8MP camera is still among the best in the market nowadays.

The phone has the usual connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It is powered by a decent 2,600mAh battery, and runs Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box.

If you are living in India, chances are you'll be able to get your hands on this handset in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, exact pricing details have not been revealed.
