MacBook Air Retina Display Release Date Still Unknown, Is 2014 The Last Year Of Apple's Ultraportable Laptop?

Apple's event today has ended, and still no MacBook Air Retina display release date in sight. If you are a fan of the ultraportable MacBook and have been wishing for a Retina display, the sad news is that it may not come in 2014 at all.

Yesterday, a report mentioned that KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo says that Apple is still waiting for Intel to launch its new Intel cores so that the new MacBook Airs will be able to benefit from them.

Previously, reports said that the new MacBook Air will be thinner than ever, thanks to its fan-less design. Interestingly, the new Intel M cores reportedly do not have fans embedded on them.

This leads us to believe that Apple may be waiting for the final piece of the new machine, and it is the cores to help the laptop run seemlessly in spite the slimmer design.

In a report by Digital Trends, the new MacBook Air may already be under development, but is still waiting for the new Intel cores. As a result, the new Broadwell-powered Apple laptop could be announced early next year, at the earlier.

In the past months, there has also been rumors that Apple is working on a 12-inch version which would fall in between the 11.6 and 13.3 editions. However, an even more interesting rumor claims that the new 12-incher version is actually the rumored iPad Pro, which would come with a detachable Bluetooth keyboard.

A lot of people are already waiting for the new Retina display Macbooks, and just like what the company did with its other devices, the arrival should be seen yearly.

Almost all of the Cupertino manufacturer's devices already have Retina versions, from the iPads, iPad minis, and the MacBook Pro. The only missing piece of the cast is the MacBook Air. And with Apple choosing to keep its mouth shut, we may never know if we'll even see this rumored device at all.
