Amal Clooney Named London’s Most Powerful Woman! Find Out Who Else Made The List!

Amal Clooney is one influential lady!

The 36-year-old British lawyer, who recently wed Hollywood superstar George Clooney, just placed fourth on the Evening Standard's annual power ranking list.

Amal, ditched her maiden name Alamuddin earlier this week in favor of her husband's surname, was the highest ranked woman on the British list. She fell just behind George Osborne (Chancellor of the Exchequer), Boris Johnson (Mayor of London), and Demis Hassabis (founder of Deep Mind Technologies).

According to the Evening Standard, Clooney was awarded her place on the list due to her work on the case of the Parthenon Marbles, ancient Greek statues that are currently housed in the British Museum in London. Clooney is fighting to help Greece win back the historical antiquities from England.

The newlywed beat out other famous females such as Victoria Beckham, who came in at number 9, recent Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, who ranked 12th, and singer-songwriter Kate Bush, who made the list at number 16.

Surprisingly absent from the list was the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, who is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Prince William. Middleton, who is the patron of nine organizations in the U.K., has recently had to drop out of many scheduled public appearances due to hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition brought on by her pregnancy that causes extreme illness.

One royal did make this list however. Prince Harry, who turned thirty this year, came in at number seven. The prince recently launched the U.K.'s Invictus Games, an international Paralympic-style sporting tournament, and also inherited approximately $17.4 million from his late mother Princess Diana's estate.
