Divorce is certainly never easy.

During an episode of "The Meredith Vieira Show," which airs on Tuesday, Nov. 3, Jennifer Lopez discusses her split from ex-husband Marc Anthony, with whom she shares 6-year-old twins Max and Emme. The music star, who was promoting her new memoir "True Love," became teary when she shared a heart-wrenching moment that she experienced at the time while talking to Max about the divorce.

Lopez told the NBC talk show's host Vieira that after her break-up with Anthony, her son Max asked a particularly serious question. 

"Will you always be my mommy?" He also asked, "When are we going to see daddy again? Will we always be together?'" revealed Lopez (via E! News).

The "American Idol" judge told Vieira that she did her best to explain the situation to her son.

"I said, 'I can't answer every question you ever have, but I can tell you that Mommy and Emme and Max will always be together."

Lopez soon had to pause, her eyes welling up with tears. Vieira became emotional as well at that moment.

"You just come to a realization, this is not the best thing for all of us," Lopez told Vieira. "When you have kids, you have to think about those things. It's not just about you anymore. It's about them."

In "True Love," Lopez recalls having a panic attack and accidentally blurting out that she wanted a divorce from Anthony.

"As I sat there getting made up, my heart was beating out of my chest and I felt like I couldn't breathe... I became consumed with anxiety. What was happening to me? I leaped from my chair and said to my dear manager Benny Medina, 'Benny, something is happening! I feel like I'm going crazy.' My mom was there and she rushed to my side too," writes the 45-year-old singer.

"It was one of those moments when you're so scared you can't even scream," she added. "In a blur of fear and panic, I looked at Benny and my mother and blurted out the words: 'I don't think I can be with Marc anymore.' Then I burst into tears."

Lopez and Anthony's divorce was finalized in June after 10 years of marriage.  

"True Love" will hit bookshelves on Nov. 4.
