Elisabeth Hasselbeck Reveals Cancer Scare During Emotional Return To ‘Fox & Friends’!
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is back on "Fox & Friends."
The television correspondent made her return to the Fox morning show on Friday, Nov. 14, and revealed that her leave of absence was the result of a sudden cancer scare.
I had a bit of a scare," explained Hasselbeck, alongside her co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmead. "I had a tumor in my abdomen. Doctor's said, look, you gotta get it out by the end of the month. We don't like how it looks. I was facing something that potentially could have gone either way. I did what they said. I had a phenomenal surgeon. I had a scary week where we didn't know what the results were. But I'm okay," she added.
Hasselbeck later indicated that the tumor had been the size of a tennis ball. Thankfully, it was found to be non-cancerous and the television star now claims to have a "clean bill of health."
It was announced on Oct. 15 that Hasselbeck would be taking a short hiatus from "Fox & Friends" due to the unexpected surgery.
During her return on Friday, the mom of three thanked the Fox network and her colleagues for supporting her through the frightening ordeal.
I could not be more thankful for my family and my friends who stood by me with incredible support," said Hasselbeck.
The 37-year-old also gushed about her husband, former NFL player Tim Hasselbeck, who took care of the family during Elisabeth's surgery and recovery.
"Tim, my husband, he really stepped up. I mean, he was my hospital buddy and took good care of me," said Hasselbeck. "And friends came to sit with me during some ugly hours. I was blessed with peace in the week where I didn't know what I would be facing and felt as ready as you could feel."
"Fox & Friends" also had a few surprises for the talk show host on Friday.
First, Hasselbeck's three children, 9-year-old daughter Grace, 7-year-old son Taylor, and 5-year-old son Isaiah, dressed up as the three Fox hosts in a special video made just for their mom.
"Woah, Elisabeth, you're back at work?" Taylor asked Grace.
"Have a good day at work, Mommy!" the three children exclaimed at the end of the sweet video.
"I don't have any words!" she emotional Hasselbeck, breaking into tears. "Thanks! I love you guys. I miss you. Oh my gosh, I love you guys so much, with my whole, whole, heart."
Later, Hasselbeck's close friend and former co-host on ABC's "The View," Sherri Shepherd surprised Elisabeth on the "Fox & Friends" couch.
"Surprised my dear friend @elisabethhasselbeck on her first day back @FoxandFriends - the entire time she was out getting surgery she would send me Scriptures of encouragement and texts praying for me," Shepherd said on Instagram. "That's the Lizzie I love! Thank you friend!"
