‘Dumb and Dumber’ Sequel Gets On Top of The Weekend Box Office, ‘Big Hero 6’ Follows In Second

Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey's 'Dumb and Dumber' is at number one spot this weekend with 'Big Hero 6" on second spot.

 According to Box Office Mojo 'Dumb and Dumber" is predicted to make $36 million this weekend, with 'Big Hero 6 'projecting to make $33 million on its second week and 'Interstellar' with $28 million.

The latest sequel opened strong on Friday with $14.2 million earnings, Forbes reported, which scored the film a great success 20 years after its first installment.

According to IMDb, the movie is about "20 years since their first adventure, Lloyd and Harry go on a road trip to find Harry's newly discovered daughter, who was given up for adoption."

 

According to IMDb Big Hero 6 is "an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion-a robot named Baymax-Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city."

'Interstellar' meanwhile gets help from its star Matthew McConaughey and an ensemble that includes Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine.

'Interstellar' was rated by Rotten Tomatoes and had this to say, "Interstellar represents more of the thrilling, thought-provoking, and visually resplendent filmmaking moviegoers have come to expect from writer-director Christopher Nolan, even if its intellectual reach somewhat exceeds its grasp."

Rotten Tomatoes meanwhile gave 'Big Hero 6" a 91 percent rating.

Another new release this week, "Beyond the Lights" is expected to make $6.5 million this week it opened at 1,789 theaters and makes $2.3 million on Friday. It's a romantic drama, which expects to attract African-American demographics.

'Gone Girl' is still making money on its seventh weekend wrapping up a haul of $149.4 million overall domestically.

 Upcoming movies for November are new releases like 'Hunger Games' and 'Horrible Bosses 2.'
