Who knew Brook Shields and Liam Neeson were once an item?

In her new autobiography "There Was a Little Girl," the 49-year-old actress revealed that she dated the "Taken" star in the early 90s. According to Shields, Neeson proposed to her then dumped her, then proposed to her again.

In the book, Shields writes that she dated Neeson in 1992 after breaking up with her actor boyfriend Dean Cain.

The "Blue Lagoon" star admits that she was impressed by Neeson's celebrity at the time and said, "[He] wooed me with his brogue, his poetry and his s---ty choice of cheap pinot grigio wine."

After just three months of dating, Neeson proposed to her, "without a ring" however.

Shields also shared a story in the memoir of a Christmas she then spent with her fiancé in New York City. The couple reportedly drank the holiday away together, alongside the actress's mother Teri Shields.

Later that night, Neeson took a flight back to Los Angeles, telling Shields that he had to check on his house. Neeson promised that he would call her when he arrived but never did.

Despite dumping Shields, Neeson later asked the actress to be his wife a second time.

"He actually proposed again," Shields told PEOPLE in this week's issue, elaborating on the remaining details of the romance which didn't make it into her book.

"He came back after the first time he left me and asked me to marry him again," said Shields. "This was before he started to do a play [Anna Christie]. And I said, 'No, no, no, because knowing you, you'll probably fall in love with your next leading lady and marry her, so I'm leaving myself out of this.' And I was dead right."

Neeson starred in the play alongside actress Natasha Richardson, whom he married in 1994.

Shields also told the mag that, years later, Richardson paid her a visit backstage when she starred as Sally Bowles in "Cabaret," a role that Richardson originated.

Shields then bumped into Neeson at a bar and asked him to thank his wife for the gesture.

"'Just tell her I was really honored she came backstage. She's the original and she's amazing.'" Shields said to her ex. "I was just trying to be very upfront about it and straightforward," she explained.
