The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Announces 16 Free DLC Downloads, Watch 20 Minute Gameplay Trailer Here [VIDEO]

"Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt" is coming soon, and all the news about the game points to a really stunning final product. "The Witcher 3" release date will be February 24.

The most recent news is that CD Projekt Red has announced 16 free DLC packs for the game across all platforms.Co-founder and joint CEO Marcin Iwinski talked about the thought process that goes into these decisions.

"Every time we reach out for a new release, we expect to be taken care of. We expect support if we encounter any problems, we love updates constantly improving the experience, and we feel really special when we receive free content that gives us more than we initially paid for. It doesn't have to be huge, it can be an awesome skin for a character, or an extra sword, or armor.

Unfortunately, this treatment is quite rare these days...As gamers, we nowadays have to hold on tight to our wallets, as surprisingly right after release, lots of tiny pieces of tempting content materialize with a steep price tag attached. Haven't we just paid a lot of cash for a brand new game?"

"As gamers, we nowadays have to hold on tight to our wallets, as surprisingly right after release, lots of tiny pieces of tempting content materialize with a steep price tag attached," said Iwiński. "Haven't we just paid a lot of cash for a brand new game?

"As CD PROJEKT RED, we strongly believe this is not the way it should work and, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we have decided to do it differently. Cutting to the chase, everyone who buys Wild Hunt will receive 16 specially prepared DLCs absolutely for free, regardless of platform. You don't have to pre-order, you don't have to buy any special edition to get them -- if you own a copy of Wild Hunt, they're yours. This is our way of saying thank you for buying our game."

"DLC, it's small content," said head of marketing and PR Michal Platkow-Gilewski back in September. "Like one-thousandth of the whole game. Why should you charge for that? If it's small, give it for free. I know it's not always possible or easy but this is what we want to give gamers; a little bit of love, which we'd like to get from other developers as gamers ourselves."

The free DLC content will begin on February 25th with two DLC packages: the 'Temerian Armour Set', which includes horse armour, and a 'Beard and Hairstyle Set' for Geralt. After this date a DLC download containing two components will be released every week.

Recently CD Projekt Red developer recently said, ""The Witcher 3 is a huge, open world game, and open world for us means not only huge locations, but also a number of interesting choices," Lead Game Programmer Grzegorz Mocarski said in an interview with GamingBolt. "You can do a lot in the game, and we're giving you many, many options. The world around us reacts to the choices, as well. It's not only about having a story arc with different choices as you saw during the presentation, but it's also about giving the player the option to choose what they want to do and how they want to interact with the game. During combat, you will have many options in terms of how to fight against your enemies. You can use different kinds of attacks -swords, bombs - and you can prepare plenty before the fight, and it is important. When fighting enemies like werewolves, which is part of monster hunting, which is a huge part of our game, you're also changing the environment around it, right? If there is a werewolf or a big creature like it somewhere around people, the people will gladly pay you for your assistance, for your help."

CD Projekt Red also responded to allegations of "crunching" or hyping up a game that isn't finished and then making people spend 16 hours a day trying to live up to the hype they have created. Indead the release date has already been pushed back once.

"In principle, we don't comment on rumors, especially when someone anonymous says that it's 'his/her word against CDP PR,'" Platkow-Gilewski said in a prepared statement.

He added: "So, PR aside, if you have any doubts about Wild Hunt's quality, have a look at the 35-minute gameplay video we published some time ago, or check out gamers' reactions to our public previews at Gamescom, San Diego Comic Con, and E3 (it's all public and available on the studio's YouTube channel), and decide for yourself." (you can watch that gameplay video below.

The most recent news is that the development team has released a teaser for the opening cinematic, which you can watch below.

In a recent interview designer Damien Monnier explained that each area of the game has its own independent ecosystem that can be disrupted by Geralt. For example if you over hunt deer in one area, there will be no more deer. But the concept is bigger than that, if you act in an evil way, word of your deeds will travel to other villages and change the way townspeople react to you. You can watch the full video explaining it below. Community Managers Marcin Momot and Tadek Zielinski recently took to YouTube to answer 20 questions about the upcoming RPG.

CD Projekt RED has talked about its plans for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's upcoming downloadable packages, in addition to once again asserting their stance against the digital rights management inclusion in video games.

"We don't want to assault anyone", said head of marketing and PR Michal Platkow-Gilewski. "Each time we are thinking about a decision, the first rule is we have to treat gamers like we'd like to be treated. We don't believe in DRM because we hate DRM. It also doesn't protect; not really. Games are cracked in minutes, hours, or days, but they're always cracked. If you want to pirate, you'll find a way. But if you're a committed gamer and are buying the game, why should we place a barrier on you? Then, with DLC, it's small content. Like one-thousandth of the whole game. Why should you charge for that? If it's small, give it for free. I know it's not always possible or easy, but this is what we want to give gamers; a little bit of love, which we'd like to get from other developers as gamers ourselves".

For one your horse comes at when you wistle and has its own storage space.

The potion system is being overhauled again, and Geralt will be able to use them in combat this time around rather than needing to consume them in advance. Momot and Zielinski also explained that while the game takes place in an open world, enemies won't auto-scale, meaning that if you are a level one and walk into a level 10 area, things are going to get messy.

There also will be no time limits for each mission. CD Projekt RED wants fans to take their time with the game as a whole, and play it at their own pace. There will be times when the game will prompt that you finish a task quickly, and these will be necessitated by something important to the story.

There are many things you can do outside of the main quest. You can race on horses, on boats, get into fistfights, hunt monsters for a living. There will also be points of interest, a new system that allows you to find something new to do, so that you can go anywhere and not be bored. The game will generate these random encounters in such a way that you can choose to engage in them or not.

Again drawing a line from "The Witcher" and other games, CD Projekt RED explains Geralt is not out to kill as many people as he can. There are many missions which will require nonviolent solutions. CD Projekt RED's focus is for Geralt to make meaningful choices.

These meaningful choices will affect the outcome of the game. However, The Witcher 3 will not have branching storylines. CD Projekt RED wanted everyone to experience a single cohesive main storyline as it is.

There will be NPC monsters. Sometimes, you will interact with them in some of your missions.

Moviepilot reports, "Using whatever weapons and armour you can scavenge, buy or forge, the challenge is to inch your way through this damned and deadly place, now and then coming across gigantic bosses that take especial valour and tenacity to kill. The eventual aim is to make it out alive, but there are about 50-60 hours of creative cruelty between you and that goal.

"Combat has been redesigned in order to combine traditional RPG elements with the speed and precision of a dedicated fighting game. All of these gameplay features are integrated into a robust RPG system at the heart of the game."

"There's a lot of magic between the third Witcher and Xbox One - we felt it since receiving development kits some time ago. A lot of effort on our side was made to usher the potential of the next generation with a new kind of RPG experience - for the first time we could open the world to the extent we wanted and tell the story with the flair it deserves. I'm confident that we'll deliver something groundbreaking and I hope, based on what we've released today, you're seeing this as well.", Adam Badowski.

The Fuse Joplin reports, " The Witcher 3 will leave you biting your nails while you try to take a decision. It is not about making a good or bad decision, it is about choosing the lesser harmful one. You may need to kill innocent men, who happen to be the marked ones by creepy monsters. The only thing you should be thinking of is saving hundreds of villagers for the price of one. The morality system works great in the game and it does have a long term impact, based on your choice."

"The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" the game is set to be released on February 24, 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Check back for more information as we get closer to the release date.
