New Details On The Engagement Ring Benedict Cumberbatch Gave His Girlfriend Sophie Hunter! ‘Sherlock’ Star Accompanied By Fiancee At ‘The Imitation Game’ Premiere

New details have emerged about the beautiful engagement ring Benedict Cumberbatch gave his girlfriend - now fiancee - Sophie Hunter! "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter made their public debut together as an engaged couple at "The Imitation Game" New York premiere earlier this week.

While we can't confirm this information, it looks like Sophie Hunter's engagement ring from Benedict Cumberbatch is a 2.5 carat Tiffany and Co. diamond engagement ring called the Tiffany Legacy.

The Tiffany and Co. website describes the ring: "This patented cushion-cut Tiffany diamond

surrounded by bead-set diamonds evokes the glamour of the Edwardian period."

The Tumblr website senyorita describes Sophie Hunter's alleged engagement ring as: "The vintage design of this ring reflects the romantic and elegant Edwardian Period. A halo of hand-set stones encircles the center diamond in a graceful motif that dazzles with every movement."

Sophie Hunter's engagement ring was first spotted when she and Benedict Cumberbatch made their first public outing together as a newly engaged couple - and really the first time they were out in public together at all - at the New York premiere of "The Imitation Game" on November 17.

The 38-year-old "Sherlock" actor was very private about his relationship with 36 year-old Sophie but he did put an engagement announcement in The Times (UK edition) newspaper, which read: "Mr BT. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."

We love how traditional Benny is!

Benedict and Sophie first met in 2009, but ever since rumors have been circulating that the two are dating, they've gone to great lengths to stay out of the public eye together.

As Design & Trend previously reported, the 38-year-old "Sherlock" actor told Elle UK that he wants someone in his life that wants more than the spotlight.

"I hope I'm looking back and going: 'Oh, that was the moment I got on with life and realised things beyond myself,'" he said. "Without using words like 'marriage' 'children' and 'family' - although I have just used those words - put it this way: I hope I've got other people to look back with me at that point. I hope I'm surrounded by family."
