Katy Perry To Roar at Super Bowl; Katy Perry Will Shoot Edible Glitter At Super Bowl Half Time Show

Katy Perry songs will rock this season's Super Bowl.

After weeks of rumors, the NFL confirmed that that pop goddess Katy Perry will headline the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1.

The "I Kissed a Girl" and "Roar" singer joins recent superstars like Beyonce, Madonna and Bruno Mars. Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and the Who have also taken to the field.

The Katy Perry Super Bowl news was confirmed by the NFL on Sunday. Perry, was watching the New York Giants play the Dallas Cowboys and immediately took to Twitter to gush "My band is in the other room screaming at the TV (and each other) over this Cowboys-Giants game. Can't wait for February 1st."

Bruno Mars set a high at this year's Super Bowl, but Perry says she's happy to perform.

In a video Katy posted after the announcement, Perry said "I've got some insane ideas this year. What if we covered the stadium with glitter? But the glitter ... was edible."

Perry has been sitting atop the Billboard charts since her first album in 2008. The singer has had nine No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Teenage Dream, Perry's second album which came out in 2010, went multiplatinum, matching Michael Jackson's record for the album Bad, which held the title for most songs from a single album to hit No. 1 with five.

Perry latest album, the hypnotic Prism also went platinum on the strength of the No. 1 hits Roar and Dark Horse.

The Super Bowl is America's most-watched TV event.

Perry is out on the road at the moment on her Prismatic World Tour.

Katy recently appeared on ESPN's "College Gameday" as the celebrity guest picker and said she has a crush on Trevor Knight, who already has a hot date. Now Trevor Knight is torn between two Katies.

Katy Perry was making predictions on ESPN's College GameDay with hosts Lee Corso and Chris Fowler.

When Katy was asked if would put her money on the fourth-ranked Oklahoma team and No. 25 TCU, Perry chose Oklahoma, then looked into the camera with her interstellar eyes and proclaimed "I'm picking this one based one on... looks. Trevor Knight, do you hear me?"
