The Surface Pro 3 has regularly pitted itself with the MacBook Air 2014 and uses the best-selling Apple machine for spec comparison.

A recent Microsoft Surface Pro 3 ad portrayed the Windows 8.1 HD tablet’s touchscreen feature, noting that it’s a capability that the MacBook Air doesn’t have. It displayed that it has a touchscreen panel that makes it more handy and easier to interact with the tablet using a pen. Though this is the case, it must be noted that there are Apple-friendly stylus that can be used for the MacBook Air.

In terms of display, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has a 12-inch display with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,440. The MacBook Air 2014 13-inch display sports a resolution of 1,440 x 900.

Under the hood, the MacBook Air either has an Intel Core i5 or Coe i7 processor, while the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has either an i3, i5 or o7 chipset.

In terms of internal memory, Surface Pro 3 users are given the ability to update or upgrade their RAM or storage space. It’s a flexibility not yet available on Apple’s machines.

On a recent look of pre-Black Friday sales, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is available at MicrosoftStore.com starting at $799. The MacBook Air, on the other hand, can be purchased from Apple.com for a starting price of $899.

It is expected that both the MacBook Air and Microsoft Surface Pro 3 will be a items on people’s watch list for discounts come this Friday.
