The thought of stepping into Freddy Mercury's iconic shoes would be daunting to anyone.

Yet when Adam Lambert joined forces with the late Mercury's legendary band Queen earlier this year, the result was a match made in musical heaven. On Monday night, the group, known as Adam Lambert + Queen, performed a stellar rendition of "Somebody to Love" on "The X Factor UK."

Adam Lambert, an "American Idol" alum, wowed the "X Factor UK" crowd with his impressive vocal talent as he sang the classic rock hit with Queen.

And Lambert definitely glowed as the rock star he is in a gold leopard print blazer.

The show's judges, Mel B., Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Simon Cowell, and Louis Walsh, all gave the band a standing ovation after the performance.

Lambert, who knows what it's like to compete for the top prize on a televised music competition, also shared some advice with the hopeful contestants on the after his performance.

"Be present in every moment and think ahead," said Lambert.

Lambert + Queen are just getting started in the UK. The dynamite pairing will be going on an arena tour around the United Kingdom beginning in January.

Also, the group announced on Monday that they will be performing on New Year's Eve in London.

"I never imagined we would be around to usher in the year of 2015, what a thrill! We promise you a great night," said renowned Queen drummer Roger Taylor in a press release.

Brian May, the band's celebrated lead guitarist said, "OK - Let's Rock into 2015."

"Words can't describe how excited I am," added Lambert, "we are going to kick off 2015 in style!"
