The latest news on Oscar Pistorius revealed that he seems to be making the most out of his prison sentence. Rather than be depressed about his fate, the Paralympian has started a workout routine for TB patients and will soon host a basketball program for inmates.

The "Blade Runner's" brother, Carl Pistorius, offered some glimpses of the life behind bars for the athlete after Oscar Pistorius began serving his sentence.

The double amputee is spending 17 hours a day inside his 6x8 feet cell. One hour is allotted for exercise along with the other inmates and another hour to spend outdoors. Contrary to reports, he doesn't get special treatment and has no private toilet but a stool to sit in the common shower room owing to his condition.

Just like any other inmate, he is allowed visitors for 45 minutes.

In one of the visits, Carl told a South African newspaper that Oscar Pistorius told him and their sister Aimee to ask others to donate balls so he could start on a basketball program for the 7,000 inmates inside the maximum security prison.

"He is still waiting for permission from the area commissioner of correctional services to start it," according to the Oscar Pistorius news from the South African publication, as shared by MailOnline.

Carl also said that Oscar Pistorius' sentence could be a blessing in disguise as his brother found a lot of inspiration from the stories of the inmates who have committed crimes but saw their lives changed behind bars. "There are surely desires in his heart, and over time they'll change. But he now lives moment by moment. There's no fairytale," he said.

Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to five years for culpable homicide in relation to the killing of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Previous news reports about the Paralympian alleged that he has been receiving special treatment inside the prison like getting a cake and balloons for his birthday, as well as his own exercise equipment.
