George Strait Farewell Tour Full Concert Dates

George Strait known as "King of Country" announced his final tour. The country superstar shared the announcement at a press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville on Wednesday.

The singer turned 60 earlier this year will embark on the "Cowboy Rides Away" tour beginning in 2013 and ending in 2014.

"I just don't want to go to the point where I show up and nobody else does, you know?" Strait shared, before the announcement according to CBC News. "It's been a hard decision for me to make, but as far as the touring goes, I've decided that I'm not going to tour anymore after these next two years."

He added, "This is going to be a very special, emotional tour for me. Everywhere we're going holds fond memories and I' looking forward to paying y respects."

Strait began his music career in 1981 with the success of his first single. Since then he holds the world record for more number-one hit singles any other artist in the history of music on any chart or in any genre, having recorded 59 hit singles as of 2012.

The "Cowboy Rides Away" tour 2013 tickets will go on sale October 12 and kick off in Lubbock, Texas in January 2012.
