Evil Dead TV Show Called 'Ash Vs. The Evil Dead' Ordered By Starz [PHOTO]

Starz has ordered an Evil Dead TV show. Not only that but it will star Bruce Campbell... as Ash. Not only that it will be written directed by Sam Rami! It will be called "Ash Vs. The Evil Dead, and we will all weep at its greatness.

For those of you that don't know, "The Evil Dead," "The Evil Dead 2," and the magnum opus "Army of Darkness" were a series of B movies that made both Bruce Campbell and Sam Rami's career (the latter went on to direct Spiderman with Toby Maguire.) The movie featured the first recorded usage of replacing a limb with an ass kicking impliment, in this case a chainsaw hand.

The logline reads "Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons -personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its 'Evil' grip."

"I'm really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide - it's going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor," Campbell said.

"Evil Dead has always been a blast," Raimi said. "Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash's lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his 'boomstick,' Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there's a truckload of it."

Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik added "Starz first worked with Sam and Rob on Spartacus, and we are thrilled to be back in business with them. With Sam writing and directing and Bruce Campbell returning to the screen, we are certain the show will give Evil Dead fans around the world the fix they've been craving."

The show also seems to answer the double ending issue. You see there were two endings to "Army of Darkness" one where Ash returns to work at S Mart, and the other where he oversleeps in a cave and is sent into a dystopian future. Because the show is a sequel not a reboot, whatver they choose for the show will be cannon. Judging by the synopsis, it will be the ending where Ash returns to work at S Mart.

The Daily Beast writes, "Yet, Ash's silly self-awareness, his whip-smart sarcasm, his charming arrogance, and his do-the-right-thing-in-the-end nobility have had a tremendous influence on today's genre cinema, be it Bruce Willis's John McClane, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, or Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man (to name just a few), not to mention on movies themselves, like the Evil Dead-riffing meta-thriller The Cabin in the Woods. Ash's posture, all wink-wink cynicism and wild-abandon ridiculousness, now typifies large swaths of contemporary pop culture, where everything from gossip sites and movie magazines to TV sitcoms and big-budget comedies all trade in a blend of knowing bluster and cheeky goofiness.

Ash's path from mild-mannered to ultra-manly mirrors that of horror/fantasy/superhero genre cinema itself, which has over the past three decades transformed from a marginalized corner of the cinematic universe to the dominating force in modern mainstream movies. When Ash makes his 2015 return to the genre landscape in Ash Vs. The Evil Dead, he'll do so not as an outsider, but as a conquering hero."

The series, titled "Ash Vs. The Evil Dead", quite possibly the crowning achievement of mankind will come in summer of 2015.
