KBS Removes Awards Ceremony From Year-End K-Pop Festival

The 2014 KBS Music Festival that is scheduled to broadcast on December 26th, will not include an awards segment this year.

While Korean broadcasting station SBS announced that there will be awards given during their music festival for this year, it was later revealed by KBS that the segment would be excluded from their year-end program. Viewers will still be able to enjoy great performances and special collaboration stages during the special event, however.

On December 8th when a KBS representative revealed the chance in plans to TV Report. "This year’s music festival will not include an awards segment," said the rep. "We will not be inviting a lot of groups. Instead, we are limiting the number to 22 teams and simply turning the event into a festival to enjoy."

"As much as we’re tightening the number of attendees, just being invited to the music festival in itself will count as being this year’s artists," the rep explained.

During the awards segment last year, EXO was the top winner with the Artist Performance Award for their single "Growl."
