Chris Pratt Shares Emotional Speech About His Son Jack's Premature Birth: 'Jurassic World' Actor Spoke From Own Experiences At March Of Dimes Celebration Of Babies Charity Event [PHOTO]

This past Friday, "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor Chris Pratt shared a touching speech about his son Jack's premature birth at the March of Dimes Celebration of Babies charity event. According to US Magazine, Pratt took the stage at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Pratt started off by discussing how he and wife Anna Faris named Jack after Faris' father. He continued, "Our little Jack didn't want to be an October baby... He wanted to be born in the summer, I guess. Anna woke me up in the middle of the night and she told me that her water had just broken. It was two-and-a-half months early. Oh, baby. Ready or not...

I've done all kinds of cool things as an actor - I've jumped out of helicopters and done some daring stunts and played baseball in a professional stadium, but none of it means anything compared to being somebody's daddy... I made promises in that moment about what kind of dad I wanted to be and I just prayed that he'd live long enough that I could keep them."

According to The Verge, Pratt and Faris were told that Jack might have special needs and would need cosmetic surgery to correct his eyes. However, one month later, he was able to be taken home.

Pratt stated, "Our Jack went from a small, helpless little squirt to a strong, smart, happy, funny, beautiful boy who loves monster trucks and 'Daniel Tiger,' and, believe it or not, loves vegetables. Broccoli and cherry tomatoes are his favorite foods...

None of what we went through would be as easy even 10 years ago," he said. He continued by reminding the audience that in the NICU, life or death hangs in the balance, "a balance that's tipping towards life by cutting-edge medicines, much of which is a direct result of this wonderful organization, the March of Dimes."
