Mad Max Game Still Without Release Date, Is Open World Post- Apocalyptic Game Facing Production Problems? Check Out The Synopsis And Trailer [VIDEO]

An upcoming "Mad Max" game has been in the works for awhile now, it made a showing at E3 2013, and since then has kind of begun to slip off the radar, leaving many fans to wonder what is happening with the game, or if there is pressure to release it in concordance with "Mad Max Fury Road." The website still claims coming 2014, but there have been no announcements an no official release date announcement.

The website describes the game saying, "Play as Mad Max, a lone warrior who must embark on a dangerous journey after his Interceptor is stolen by a deadly gang of marauders. A reluctant hero with an instinct for survival, Max wants nothing more than to leave the madness behind and find solace in the storied "Plains of Silence""

Gamerant reports, "Obviously we want to maintain that sense of mystery about what has happened in the world, and what is the history of every place that we visit. And while some of it is things that we have explained in development - either on our own or through the consulting with George Miller - while we know it, we don't spell it out to people, but it affects how certain areas are constructed and what we find in certain areas."

"In some instances, I know myself that we have some stuff in the world, and it's not described anywhere why it is how it is, but I'm making educated guesses as to why it is this way; what used to be here? And what would people in this world think that this was?"Every car in the world has a gameplay aspect to it. Some have more value than others, but all of them are potential sources of scrap, or fuel, for instance... while I'm not a vehicle designer, I know that they've approached it with the mindset of: how would someone in this world build this car? What shows off status in terms of essentially pimping your ride, and what is good in terms of actual function; how would you put stuff on this car so that it becomes a more efficient weapon."

Hallels reports, "In this game, the player controls the title character, Mad Max. In his endeavors, Mad Max is assisted by Chumbucket famously known as Chum. His main reason for assisting Max is so he is able to upgrade the Magnum Opus vehicle using various artifacts the collect in their quest. One of the things that make it really easy for Mad Max to survive is his ability and training in a variety of weapons including his all time favorite the shotgun. Throughout the game it is wiser to use melee weapons since ammo for the guns are quiet scarce. Despite the fact that the harpoon can only be used in vehicles that Chum is riding along on, it is also another of Mad Max's favorite weapons as he understands ways of manipulating it better than how he does other weapons save the shotgun."

MoviePilot reports, "The Mad Max game is in a similar situation as Miller is with Mad Max Fury Road. If the company can demonstrate their greatest aspects and strengths in Mad Max, the title is likely to excite a lot of players. The game focuses heavily on its car battles, though allegedly you can navigate the world on foot just as much as you do with your car. The last game that did this was Rage, look how that turned out.

Ammo is scarce but there area a lot of items in the environment that we can use to our advantage, including weapons we collect from the corpses of our enemies. The world seems very true to the Mad Max films, though contains its own story that doesn't relate to series at all. Generally, I like to stay far away from games that are released at the same time as the film of that particular universe. But then Arkham Knight came out around the time of Nolan's trilogy."

Moviepilot reports, "One of the reasons Miller was attracted to making a Mad Max video game was due to the potential within the video games sector, claiming it to be massive and a means forward for storytelling.

"It's four-dimensional storytelling. A game can literally become the equivalent of a novel. That is the thing that people like me who write screenplays envy about novelists: that you can actually stop time and explore little cul de sacs. Whereas in a movie, you'd love to stop and examine that character, but you can't."

There has been notable controversy surrounding Max's accent. Several journalists who attended previews of the gameplay reported that Max was portrayed with an American accent.

Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production & Development, Warner Bros said:

"Mad Max places gamers directly into the driver's seat of their ultimate customized vehicle to battle it out in the action-packed, open world of The Wasteland. We are very pleased to work with Avalanche Studios to provide a next generation gaming experience with robust fighting paired with dynamic vehicular combat."

Christofer Sundberg, Avalanche Studios Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer added:

"Over a decade of creating open world experiences has led us to this point. The Wasteland lends itself incredibly well to the high level of player freedom with which Avalanche Studios has become synonymous. This unforgiving environment inspired us to create a gritty and diverse experience where driving, fighting and scavenging are essential for survival.""

Mad Max is also expected to become more pronounced throughout 2015, enabling the studio to line-up a launch of the game with the upcoming George Miller film, Mad Max: Fury Road.

The "Mad Max" game, however, is not related to the new "Fury Road" in any way shape or form. The last official update on the game came during E3 2013, where its creators said it wouldn't tie into the upcoming film, then made a concession by changing the main character to have an Australian accent. Other than the "g'day mates" the game isn't related to the movie at all.

The game was origonally announced back in 2008, then went dark. It reemerged in 2013, with a 2014 release date touted, but then was delayed. So the 2015 release date is a wide window on a game with a history of not quite being put together all the way. There is a trailer out, and you can watch it below
