Interview with TVXQ: Thoughts Regarding Comeback and Love Life Revealed

K-Pop idol group TVXQ is about to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. TVXQ's legendary career began with 5 members but the only remaining members are Yunho and Changmin. Although there were many ups and downs throughout the past 10 years, Yunho and Changmin of TVXQ have matured as a team as well as individuals after their hardships.

It is possible that their fate was decided the moment they decided to pursue their path to become celebrities. After ten years, Yunho and Changmin have a collection of countless accomplishments under their sleeves. However, as life in general revolves around the concept of "give-and-take," both Yunho and Changmin have had to make a lot of sacrifices throughout their career.

Regardless of the hardships they've had to endure, TVXQ is coming back stronger than ever after a year and eight months. Changmin stated, "We want to broaden our musical perspective since we're not planning to end our career after only a couple of years. Hence this time, TVXQ's "Catch Me" will be slightly different from their previous albums.

Changmin added, "I don't want to be identified by just one musical color. We want to embrace several different genres of music since we plan to continue our career in the music industry. Wouldn't that be a characteristic of a true musician? I'm not sure what type of changes will occur in the future, but we plan to continue our efforts to broaden our musical horizon. It will be our never-ending homework."

Considering Changmin's comment, their new album Catch Me will reveal a whole new side of TVXQ their fans have never seen before.

Yunho described, "This album is like the key to TVXQ's progress and growth especially since it is the first album after a long break. We are always hoping to provide our fans with a variety of styles."

Above all else, TVXQ emphasized the fact that they've been in the music industry for such a long time and are concerned about the possibility of falling behind pace in the constantly changing music industry. After their comeback, TVXQ will receive the senior treatment whenever and wherever they perform on a music program.

The two also revealed their worries concerning the younger generation of K-Pop fans who may not even recognize TVXQ like the legendary idol group H.O.T., who used to basically reign K-Pop in the 90s all the way up to 2001 when they disbanded.

Yunho added, "Kids these days don't know who H.O.T. is these days. At one point, the thought occurred to me that it is a possibility that the younger generation won't know us. I felt the importance of maintaining communication with our fans even while taking breaks. We want to be like Jo Yong Pil and Shin Seung Hun, legendary Korean singers who have been singing for fans for decades."

Both Yunho and Changmin seemed to be very concerned with their comeback. It was apparent that they spent a significant amount of time reflecting on their gains and losses. They even revealed their thoughts regarding their personal lives.

Regarding their love life, Yunho stated, "Love life? Opportunity and timing has to come together. It's only natural that as a male, I am drawn more towards females. However, there are times when I want to focus on my career more and right now is one of those times. Of course, there are moments when I feel extremely emotional. Sometimes I even write letters to my other half who is probably out there somewhere."

After hearing Yunho's answer, Changmin responded, "What he said is true but one of the things that I regret the most is the fact that I couldn't date at all after my debut... especially when I was high spirited and energetic. (laugh). After debuting at a young age, I just slept when I was exhausted, then just carried on with my schedule. So whenever I speak to younger singers, I always tell them to date secretly. There is a big difference between the emotions that can be expressed by people who have dating experience compared to those who have none."

There are obviously a lot more they have gained compared to their losses. They took over Asia and matured as a respected group, which lead to an incredible financial success at an early age. However, they have led a bittersweet lifestyle when considering the simple pleasures of life that they missed out on, like school graduations and love life. When questioned about the ranking of artists in SM Entertainment, they stated, "Don't you think we're at the level of directors?" half serious, half joking.

One thing that cannot be denied is that TVXQ has continuously matured as an idol group and they have also been continuously loved. When they come back this month, they will go straight after a level that most artists cannot even dream of. There are no other groups who can deliver a perfect performance as TVXQ which has been an accepted fact in the music industry. Only time will tell just, how far, TVXQ will go with their new transformations.
