Sherlock Season 4 Release Date Pushed to 2017: Benedict Cumberbatch Outs Holmes as Gay in Sherlock Series

Sherlock Season 4 release date had been reported to hit screens in January 2016, but rumors say Sherlock" Season 4 is likely to premiere in 2017. Report have been pinning the blame on Benedict Cumberbatch and his ever-increasingly busy schedule, but Sherlock routinely runs new seasons every two years. Season 1 premiered in July 2010 while seasons 2 and 3 premiered on January 1, 2012 and 2014.

Benedict Cumberbatch won't be adding Sandman to his resume. Neil Gaiman recently admitted that Cumberbatch was his second choice for the role.

"I think the first time I saw Benedict [Cumberbatch] was as Sherlock Holmes. I thought, 'wow, that's incredibly Morpheus.' And fans probably thought the same because they immediately started doing fan-art, meshing the two of them up," recently told media.

More recent headlines are saying that Benedict Cumberbatch hinted that his character in the BBC series Sherlock prefers men to women.

On a Nerdist podcast, the British actor talked about the similarities between Sherlock and Doctor Who, saying "One uses a sonic screwdriver and time travel and the other uses his brain and isn't 900 years old and isn't reincarnated. Sherlock talks fast and is clever, that's literally the only bracket they share. They've got different dress senses, different tastes in the sex of their partners..."

Speaking to BBC TV, Cumberbatch recently said he has no plans to quit Sherlock now that his star is rising in film.

"If we can keep the quality up," Cumberbatch told Vogue, magazine "I can't imagine that I will ever get tired of being Sherlock. I'd love to play him as an old man."

Sherlock The show returns with a one-off special, expected at the end of 2015.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a Emmy-winning actor who starred in The Hobbit series, "Star Trek Into Darkness," and BBC's "Sherlock." There are rumors that Marve wants him to play Stephen Strange in their upcoming Phase 3 film "Doctor Strange," according to Deadline.

Tom Hiddleston, who stars in "Thor," is rumored to be cast as Sherlock's older brother, Sherrinford. The actor is actually younger than Benedict Cumberbatch. The older brother did not feature in the sleuthing stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but fans are sure that he will appear in the series.
