Victoria Justice is moving further away from her innocent image that originated from Nickelodeon.

Except not really when you consider that MTV is in the same family of networks.

Nevertheless, the young actress is all set for her new show "Eye Candy," a scripted series based on the novel by young adult horror author R.L. Stine. Several promos and a trailer have been released in preparation of the series premiere in January.

Earlier this year Hollywood Life (via Victoria Justice Daily) caught up with Victoria Justice and asked her why she chose to do the much darker role in comparison to her previous roles.

"When I first was sent the script I was really excited because I'm an R.L. Stine fan. I love that like creepy and suspenseful element," said Justice. "While I was reading the script I didn't wanna stop reading it. I wanted to know what was gonna happen next."

With that kind of endorsement, perhaps audiences can at least expect the actress to display some real passion in "Eye Candy."

"Eye Candy" appears to be pretty close to the R.L. Stine novel of the same name based on this official MTV website description:

"‘Eye Candy' centers on tech genius Lindy, who is persuaded by her roommate to begin online dating and begins to suspect that one of her mysterious suitors might be a deadly cyber stalker.

When her friends at the elusive cyber-police uncover a potential serial killer in Manhattan, all signs point to one of Lindy's dates. Teaming up with this band of hackers, Lindy works to solve the murders while unleashing her own style of justice on the streets of New York City."

According to IMDB, Victoria Justice will be joined by Kiersey Clemons, Casey Jon Diedrick, and Harvey Guillen as the main cast members. It should also be noted that the production company bringing the thriller is Blumhouse Productions, a studio known for horror smashes such as "Paranormal Activity" and "Sinister."

"Eye Candy" will debut it's pilot episode on MTV January 12 at 10pm. Those curious about the series can watch the trailer below.
