Following Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels' split, the "Pinkprint" songstress has remained hush about it. The "Super Bass" rapper has been with Samuels for 15 years. In an interview with Angie Martinez on Power 105. 1, Minaj opted to break her silence.

"I've never been single for the last 15 years of my life," she said. As opposed to what others are thinking, the "Bed of Lies" rapper claims that her new album doesn't have songs inspired by her break-up.

She clarifies that despite Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels' split, their relationship was still love-filled: "My relationship was based off of love, and there still is nothing but love there. This is not some person I picked up off the street. This is somebody I grew up with."

Minaj also hinted that things have been difficult for her following their split:  "I don't even know how I'm gonna function without that person in my life. I've never lived my life as a famous person without him."

Since she's used to having him around, the "Only" hit maker admits that she still has the urge to call Samuels at time just to know his opinion about random things.

The "Starships" singer similarly talked about what made it so difficult to have a public break-up: "I'm also not gonna joke about it or try to disrespect him and try to act like he didn't mean the world to me and still [does] mean the world to me. I'm just figuring it out."

It was early November when Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels allegedly got into a fight which not only prompted Minaj to force Samuels out of her house but also smash his car. In October, Samuels also ignited split rumors after stepping out with his tattoos of Minaj all covered up.
