NBA Trade Rumors: Corey Brewer To Houston Rockets Confirmed! Cleveland Cavaliers Passed To Get A Big Man! Minnesota Timberwolves In Rebuild Mode!

The NBA Trade Rumors become actual trades as both the Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves confirmed the Corey Brewer trade. The Cleveland Cavaliers were supposed to be players for the small forward, but they decided to pursue a big man instead.

The final terms of the trade from Yahoo Sports:

"Houston will send guard Troy Daniels to Minnesota as part of the Brewer deal, sources said. The Rockets will also give Minnesota a 2015 second-round pick - via Sacramento - and a future second-round pick, along with cash.

The 76ers also will send guard Alexy Shved to the Rockets, sources said. To make room on the roster to complete the trade, the Rockets waived forward Francisco Garcia.

Minnesota will send forward Ronny Turiaf and a second-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers, sources said. Turiaf recently had arthroscopic surgery on his right hip and will miss the remainder of the season."

The Cleveland Cavaliers were also rumored to be aggressively pursuing the defensive small forward but they had to re-assess their priorities. If they wanted to make a big trade, it should be for a big-man:

"Cavs General Manager David Griffin did not seriously consider trading for Corey Brewer. He wanted to hang on to his $5.3 million trade exception. A major problem was Minnesota wanting two upper level second-round picks. The Cavs didn't have those. Nor were the Cavs willing to trade their future first-round pick (protected and belonging to Memphis).

Griffin has decided to wait, his goal being to add another big man - one who can block some shots and rebound. The trading deadline is February 19, and there may be some big men available close to the deadline.

If Griffin had made a strong bid for Brewer, that would have been the Cavs main in-season move. The salary cap would have prevented most other deals. The trade option is the key because it allows a team to get rid of a contract (as Minnesota did with Brewer), but not take back much money."

The Houston Rockets had a quick answer to the Dallas Mavericks acquisition of Rajon Rondo but Brewer is by no means a game-changer. Thus, it is believed that the Rockets still have other plans.
