Tom Brady Contract News: New England Patriots Quarterback Gives His Team An Extra $24 Million; Money To Be Used To Sign Better Players [PHOTO]

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has recently restructured his contract, giving his team an extra $24 million to spend this winter. According to the Bleacher Report, the extra money will likely be used for the team to sign new and highly skilled players that will command a big payday for upcoming seasons.

Adam Schefter of ESPN wrote on his Facebook page, "In a deal turned into NFL today, Tom Brady restructured his contract to give NE $24 million more in cash to spend this winter, per sources.

Under the new deal, Brady changed the $24 million in "skill" guarantee to only "injury" guarantee, meaning that Brady now would get the guaranteed money only if he were injured. Brady also now can be released from the Patriots without any liability, but he then would become an unrestricted free agent, free to command the type of guaranteed money he has agreed to surrender."

Brady won't be giving away any salary in the restructuring of his contract. ESPN reports that Brady will receive a $1 million bump in each of the three remaining years of the deal. His base salaries will now be $8 million in 2016, $9 million in 2016 and $10 million in 2018.

This isn't the first time Brady has restructured his contract, either. NFL.com reports that Brady previously restructured his contract in 2012, a move that created $7.2 million in salary cap space. He also signed a three-year extension in February 2013, which supposedly created well over $30 million in cap space over 2013 and 2014.

Though restructuring his contract bodes well for Brady and his team, it has created problems for other star quarterbacks and players around the league. Joel Corry, a salary cap expert for CBS Sports, stated, "It goes against all agent advice and infuriates all the agents in the business...The older quarterbacks like Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, they're now going to be asked if they'd be willing to do something like Brady just did."

What do you think of the move?
