A new Apple smartphone, currently dubbed as the iPhone 6S Mini, is rumored to arrive next year.

The latest reports circulating around the tech world noted that the Cupertino-based tech firm may launch a new handset, the rumored iPhone 6S mini.  Similar to the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S, this new iOS smartphone will reportedly get a 4-inch display.

Moreover, the report on SlashGear.com reads, "Apple is said this week to be rolling out a "low end" handset with updated specifications and a price point to match." And predictably, the iPhone 6S mini is also rumored to have the look and feel similar to the company's latest smartphone model, the iPhone 6.

Furthermore, the iPhone 6S Mini might likely match the specs and components of the iPhone 5S. Meanwhile, a report on iDigitalTimes.com mentioned that the 6S Mini might get specs similar to the iPhone 6.

The smartphone is most likely to get the newest features available on the latest iOS handset such as the fingerprint sensor. The iPhone 6S mini can also be equipped with the 8-megapixel camera but it might be available for the "lowest price point as the iPhone 5s does now," according tothe SlashGear.com report.

"iPhone 6S mini specs could bring along improvements to the front-facing and rear camera, brighter display and maybe even a slimmer design," iDigitalTimes's report further reads.   

As for the release date, the iPhone 6S Mini is reportedly arriving in 2015, some reports suggesting that it might be launched during the early parts of the year. But as cited on IDigitalTimes, it is also a possibility that the rumored smartphone will be unveiled during the usual September event hosted by the iPhone maker.
