Amanda Knox's Waiting Days For Murder Case Appeal Numbered; Third Ruling On Meredith Kercher's Death Out By March?

The waiting period for Amanda Knox's murder case appeal is winding down as the final decision may be handed down in March this year, which could spell either freedom or conviction for the convicted killer of Meredith Kercher.

Amanda Knox was already convicted twice in different Italian courts for the murder of her British flatmate in Perugia, Italy in 2007. Rudy Guede, who had a history of break-ins, was sentenced to 30 years on October 28, 2008 for Meredith Kercher's murder.

Three months later, Raffaele Sollecito and Amanda Knox's murder case started. In December of that year, the student was sentenced to 26 years while her ex-boyfriend was given 25-year sentence.

"On Oct. 3, 2011, the appeals court overturned both Knox and Sollecito's murder convictions, and the two were released from jail immediately," Christian Times reported. "On Oct. 4, 2011, Knox returned to her hometown of Seattle, Washington."

But their legal troubles were far from over since the Court of Cassation overturned the ruling of the appellate court on March 26, 2013 and ordered a retrial. The new murder case trial resulted to the conviction of both Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito which earned her a jail term of 28 and a half years.

According to Christian Post, the Italian justice system is clouded by accusations that it's conspiring to frame Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito for Meredith Kercher's murder.

According to Ground Report, one of the biggest indications that the murder case appeal of Amanda Knox will swing on her favor is the promotion of Giuliano Mignini.

"In his new role, he will never again prosecute a case or lead an investigation, he is only allowed to sit with other judges on appeals courts. So the judiciary can be confident there will be no more Mignini led witch hunts," the article said.

The former Italian prosecutor has been accused of manipulating evidence and pressuring witnesses during the whole Amanda Knox murder case trial. In fact, Mignini faced charges for for abuse of office for the "Narducci trail" investigation.
