Queen + Adam Lambert Nominated For Ultimate Classic Rock's Tour Of The Year Award; 'American Idol' Alum Trying To Keep Freddie Mercury's Memory Alive

Queen + Adam Lambert was nominated for Ultimate Classic Rock's tour of the year award, as the "American Idol" alum denied that he's trying to replace the iconic Freddie Mercury.

Unreality TV reported that Queen + Adam Lambert tour was nominated along with Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones and Judas Priest.

"Adam Lambert and Queen are going back on tour beginning next week and UK," it said. "The group, who performed their way across North America last summer - and even stopped off for a little jaunt to New Zealand and Australia afterwards - have already won praise from fans around the world."

The Ultimate Classic Rock's website said, "After years of one-off dates and shows in Europe, Queen + Adam Lambert finally brought their live experience to North America. This past summer, they played 19 shows in 18 cities in the US and Canada over the course of a month."

"They ended 2014 by playing a high-profile New Year's Eve show at London's Westminster Central Hall that was broadcast on the BBC," the site added.

Meanwhile, "American Idol" alum Adam Lambert said in a report from Express said that his tour with Queen is not meant to replace Freddie Mercury.

"There's never going to be another (Freddie Mercury), and I'm not replacing him," he said. "That's not what I'm doing. I'm trying to keep the memory alive, and remind people how amazing he was, without imitating him."

"I'm trying to share with the audience how much he inspired me," he added.

Brian May earlier recognized Adam Lambert's contribution to make Queen relevant again during the whole tour.

In an earlier interview, with Anti Music, Brian May feels lucky that they found Adam Lambert to front Queen because he is "so much like Freddie in many ways."

"But Adam doesn't have to try to be like Freddie, which is the nice thing. He doesn't imitate; he just does his own thing," he said. "We didn't look for this guy, [but] suddenly he's there, and he can sing all of those lines. See, they're difficult songs to sing, Queen songs. There's too much range. So many people can't sing them in the original key - even if they are good singers. Adam comes along, he can do it easy. He can do it in his sleep!"
