'Tokyo Ghoul' PS Vita Game 'Masquerader' Announced In Young Jump Magazine

Video games based on popular moves don't always do well. But Bandai Namco seems to have discovered the secret to creating a successful game franchise from a previously existing work:

Make the video game based on an internationally popular anime series (i.e. "Dragon Ball Z")

The latest anime/manga series to get the Bandai Namco Games treatment is "Tokyo Ghoul." Recently it was revealed in the latest issue of Shuiesha's Young Jump magazine that they are developing a game based on the manga series by Sui Ishida for the PS Vita platform. The game will be titled, "Tokyo Ghoul Masquerader."

Based on the amount of excitement for "Tokyo Ghoul" season two ("Tokyo Ghoul: Root A"), making a video game based on the series seems like a smart move. Fans in an ANN forum were happy to hear that their favorite human-ghoul Ken Kaneki, would be returning.

"Hardly a surprise for me but I'm glad it's actually confirmed as legit now," commented Stark700.

"It would have been annoying if we didn't get a second season with the way they left the first season off," said Epicrevenge.

Anime News Network reports that although the "Tokyo Ghoul Masquerader" game was announced, no release date or price has been set. In terms of plot, the only information available is that the game will be an "adventure RPG."

My Anime List describes "Tokyo Ghoul" as follows:

"The suspense horror/dark fantasy story is set in Tokyo, which is haunted by mysterious "ghouls" who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realize that his fate will change overnight."
