GTX 980 Ti Release Date: Nvidia Corp. says the GTX 980 Ti release date may be pushed to 2016.

According to reports Nvidia is looking at raising the price on the new GeForce GTX Titan single-chip flagship graphics card when it launches.

Published reports saying that the new ultra-high-end GTX Titan graphics adapter will cost $1,349. This is a big jump from its predecessors.

Nvidia promises that the new GeForce GTX Titan will be much fast than what came before because of the second-generation Maxwell architecture, the high clock rates and the higher amount of stream processors.

Production problems are holding up the GTX 980 Ti release. It was reported that the GTX 980 Ti would come out in December 2014, but a recent report says that the GTX 980 Ti production was beset by problems, pushing back the GTX 980 Ti release date to 2016.

In 2012, Nvidia had similar 28nm yield issues which delaying its 28nm GPU lineup. The company released its first 28nm GPU, the GK104 in the GTX 680, three months after AMD came out in Tahiti in the HD 7970 and 7950.

It takes somewhere between four months to a year go get to market availability. That would give Nvidia developers about two to three months to get 16nm graphics cards ready for a 2015 release date. It took Nvidia nearly two years after TSMC began 28nm volume production to introduce its large chip.

The specs of the new GTX 980 Ti from Nvidia was leaked recently. According to rumors, the new GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics card will have DirectX 12.0 and SLI, VXGI, MFAA, GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience and PhysX support.

The leaked specs are yet to be confirmed by Nvidia.

GM200 won't be the only GPU Nvidia to come out for 16nm. Nvidia promised a second revision of GM204, GTX 980 and GTX 970, will also have a 16nm flavor as well as a smaller GM206 GPU, rumored to debut at the same time as the GM204.

GM200 is Nvidia's large Maxwell GPU.
