Tom Brady Thinks Deflategate Drama Is Absurd, Denies Wrongdoing In AFC Championship Game Controversy [PHOTO]

The New England Patriots have denied all accusations that they deflated footballs somewhat at Sunday's AFC Championship Game, a controversy that has become known as "Deflategate." According to CNN, the NFL is hard at work investigating why the game balls the Patriots provided were underinflated.

Why is this so controversial? Well, a ball with a lower inflation is thought to be easier to grip, and could give the passer a competitive advantage. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is known to have chosen the balls used, and has said that he picked them five hours before the game, feeling the laces and the leather, but not paying attention to the inflation level.

Brady happens to think that the drama surrounding the controversy is absurd. According to NBC News, he stated, "This isn't ISIS. No one's dying." He quickly denied all wrongdoing, stating, "I would never do anything to break the rules... Everyone's obviously trying to figure out what happened."

He continued, "When I pick those footballs out, at that point, to me, they're perfect. I don't want anyone touching the balls after that. I don't want anyone rubbing them. To me, those balls are perfect. And that's what I expect when I show up on the field."

He then added that the Patriots won the game "fair and square," and said that "the integrity of the sport is very important."

As for what Patriots coach Bill Belichick had to say? He stated, "Tom's personal preferences on his footballs are something that he can talk about in much better detail and information than I could possibly provide... I have no explanation for what happened."

CNN reports that this is not the first time the Patriots have been accused of wrongdoing. In a 2007 cheating incident called "Spygate," the team is known to have stolen defensive signals from the New York Jets. Belichick was fined $500,000 and the NFL took away a first-round draft pick.
