'Music Bank in Chile' Ends in Success with Super Junior, MBLAQ, CNBLUE

It was not the kind of passion that could be felt in Korea. It has only been 2 to 3 years since K-Pop made its way to Chile but the amount of energy and the number of fans rivaled that of Japan and China, who have long been a part of the K-Pop wave.

"K-Pop Festival Music Bank in Chile" was held on Friday at Quinta Vergara Amphitheatre in Via Del Mar, Chile.

The fans began gathering for the concert at 11am, 9 hours before the scheduled time. Many of them held large signs for Super Junior, MBLAQ, CNBLUE and After School.

Some of them had come from all over South America but everyone was excited to see these K-Pop artists.

The concert filled the entire venue, which allowed for 10,000 people. Because of how many people began showing up before the concert, they said they even had to control the number of cars arriving at the venue.

The fans cheered even before the artists appeared and the videos were enough to set them off and they were all screaming the names of their favorite bands.

The concert began with all the performers coming on stage and singing a Chilean song, which was a gift for the audience. MBLAQ started off the concert with their hit songs and after thanking the audience, they rounded up their performance with "Mona Lisa."

The craze was passed onto After School, who performed "Diva," "Flashback," and "Because of You." This performance was followed by a special stage called, 'Dancing in Latin America,' where the performers came on stage and showed off dances to some Latin songs and "Gangnam Style." The fans could be seen singing and dancing along to the songs.

The energy from the Chilean fans was eye-opening. It arrived at its peak when CNBLUE took the stage.

With the exception of Lee Jung Shin, who was back in Korea with his acting schedule, the other three members performed their hit songs. It was clear when they took the stage that they had a considerable fan base in the country.

Super Junior was the one who ended the concert. They have a fan-club of 7,000 members in Chile, which makes them the most popular K-Pop group here. They definitely received the biggest applause at the venue.

They performed their hit songs, "Sexy, Free and Single," "Mr. Simple," "Sorry Sorry" and other songs. A video from leader Leeteuk, who had enlisted for military service, pleased the fans.

The last performance was with all the artists and they sang, "Arirang," a classic Korean song. It was a show that exhibited the amount of love these Chilean fans had for Korean culture.

Even when the concert ended, the fans did not want to go home. They remained in the venue, socialized and still expressed their fandom. One audience member said, "I hope this happens again next year. I want to see SHINee or Big Bang. I wish we could actually see Korean singers every day."

She continued, "We've already known about bands like H.O.T and god. I think people liked Korean singers for at least 10 years. I really loved it."

One Korean immigrant in Chile said, "I brought my wife here and I'm so proud that our singers are coming all the way out here to perform."

"Music Bank in Chile" lasted 2 and half hours. It will be aired in Korea on December 8.
