Melissa Rivers News Update: 'Beverly Hills' Star Sues The New York Clinic As She Blames The Doctor's Incompetency For Her Mother's Death!

Melissa Rivers filed a law suit against the clinic where her mother, Joan Rivers died as a result of the doctors not acting on time.

According to reports from People, Melissa Rivers is suing the Mount Sinai Hospital for failing to save her mother during her heart surgery, as Joan died on September 4 last year due to a coma.

According to the New York City Medical Examiner Office, Joan died from brain damage caused by lack of oxygen. Further details of her surgery would be investigated by officials.

Melissa Rivers made a statement on Monday said, "Filing this lawsuit was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make," The "Beverly Hills 90210" actress added, "What ultimately guided me was my unwavering belief that no family should ever have to go through what my mother, [my son] Cooper and I have been through."

"The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect, and outrageous behavior is shocking and frankly, almost incomprehensible.

"Not only did my mother deserve better, every patient deserves better. It is my goal to make sure that this kind of horrific medical treatment never happens to anyone again."

The New York Daily News cited that while Joan lay sedated in a Manhattan clinic, her doctors performed unapproved medical procedure, clicked a selfie with Joan but failed to act as her vital signs became progressively worse, but nobody performed a tracheotomy to open her airway.

Besides suing the clinic, Melissa Rivers has also sued her mom's personal doctor, Gwen Korovin, who according to the suit simply abandoned Joan.

The lawsuit filed in Manhattan State Supreme Court describes a careless, arrogant staff of doctors who treated the comedienne with scorn while she was unconscious. Furthermore, it suggests that the actress died as a result of their inadequacy.

The "Fashion Police" star on E! passed away just days after she went for a routine endoscopy at an outpatient clinic in Yorkville, Manhattan and stopped breathing.

According to People, The New York State Department of Health found that Joan's irreversible brain damage was a result of the mistakes made by her personal doctor and the clinic staff.

The department's report revealed that "the physicians in charge of the care of the patient failed to identify deteriorating vital signs and provide timely intervention during the procedure."
