Successful Queen + Adam Lambert Gigs Prompt 'American Idol' To Lose Anonymity In London; Freddie Mercury Steals Show 'From Beyond The Grave?'

The massive success of the New Year's Eve gig for Queen and Adam Lambert just lost the "American Idol" alum his anonymity in London. Meanwhile, a reviewer noted that Freddie Mercury continued to steal the show, even from beyond the grave.

According to a report from Mirror, the "American Idol" alum used to ride the train when he goes out to meetings and gigs in London but things have changed since the Queen + Adam Lambert concerts,

"He often goes on the tube when he's here because it's easier - he did it in November and didn't have a problem," said a source. "But during his gigs in London this month he got absolutely mobbed with people asking for pictures and his autograph."

"He has become a household name since the New Year's Eve performance with Queen and people have just gone nuts for him," the source added about Adam Lambert.

In a review of the Queen + Adam Lambert's gig at the Leeds Arena recently, Paul Jeeves wrote on Express that unfair or not, the singer will always be judged in the shadows of Freddie Mercury.

"But it is when Mercury makes two singing appearances on film singing Love of My Life and a Bohemian Rhapsody duet with the newbie that he completely steals the show from beyond the grave," he wrote.

"It almost unfairly leaves Lambert to cope with the consequences but he cleverly addresses the problem proclaiming 'I love him just as much as you guys.'"

But he credited Adam Lambert for holding the mantle of the legendary rock icon as the new frontman of Queen.

"Inevitably the show concludes with 'We Are The Champions' and Lambert wears a crown - symbolically not quite as big as the one Mercury used to wear - but still a crown," he wrote.
