Super Junior, BTS, EXO, TVXQ, WINNER, Mamamoo, Epik High, KARA & More Take Home Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards

Idol groups won numerous awards at the January 28 Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.

SM Entertainment acts took the top spot at the Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards, with the three groups receiving Singer of the Year awards. Super Junior's "Mamacita" album won the Singer of the Year award with the bestselling album in the third and fourth quarters of 2014. EXO's "Overdose" won the same award for the second quarter, and TVXQ's "Tense" won it in the third. Both Mamamoo and WINNER won rookie of the year awards.

Along with the top artist of the year and rookie of the year awards, there were a variety of other awards.

Shin Hae Chul, a forerunner of pop and rock music in South Korea, passed away in 2014 and was awarded the K-POP Contribution Award.

Epik High won the Genre Award. BTS won the World Rookie award, while Block B and EXID took home Hot Trend awards. SoYou X Junggigo took home the Long-Run Song of the Year award for "Some." AOA won te Hot Performance Award, and Lim Chang Jung won the Popular Sing Award.

Super Junior also won the Weibo K-POP Star Award, and KARA won the K-POP World Korean Wave Star Award.

Kim Si Dae, the founder of Starship Entertainment, won the Producer of the Year award. Kim Do Hoon, who composed "Some," won the Composer of the Year award, while Min Yeon Jae won the Lyricist of the year. Jang Hyuk and Kang Tae Woo won the Performer of the Year Award.

The 2014 Style Award went to the Dance Crew DQ, Park Seo Hyun, and Choi Ji Hyang.

Kakao Music and Universal Music Korea respectively won the New Media Platform and Music Distribution Awards.

There were also awards given out to the artists who took number one each month on Gaon music charts:

May - g.o.d
June - Taeyang
July - SanE and Raina
August - Park Boram
September - SISTAR
October - Dong Ryul Kim
November - MC Mong
December - A Pink
